Every puppy we produce is the result of months of planning, careful pairing, and deliberate selection. We do not breed on a schedule or to meet demand. When we have a litter, it is because we believe that pairing will produce dogs that represent a genuine improvement — in health, structure, or temperament — over what came before.
Our placement process is thorough because it has to be. A Great Dane is a ten-year commitment. We want every family to be prepared for that — and we want every puppy to land in a home where it will thrive. We are selective, but we are not difficult. We are looking for the right fit, not the perfect resume.
We remain available to every family we place a puppy with — for the life of that dog. Questions, concerns, and updates are always welcome. We consider our puppy families part of the extended Alvis community.
How It Works
The Placement Process
Submit an Inquiry
Begin by reaching out through our contact form. Tell us about your household, your experience with large breeds, your lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a Great Dane. There are no wrong answers — we are looking for honesty and fit.
Application & Conversation
We will follow up with a written application and a phone or video call. This is a two-way conversation — we want to understand your home, and we want you to understand our program. We encourage questions.
Placement on the Wait List
Approved families are placed on our wait list. We do not collect deposits until a litter is confirmed. Wait list position is based on application date and fit — not first-come, first-served for every puppy.
Litter Announcement
When a litter is born, we notify wait-listed families with details about the litter — parents, expected colors, projected go-home date. Families confirm their interest and a deposit secures their place.
Puppy Selection
We make temperament-based placement recommendations at seven weeks, after individual evaluations. We do not offer first pick to the first deposit — we match puppies to families based on temperament and lifestyle fit.
Go Home at Eight Weeks
Puppies go home at eight weeks with their first vaccinations, a health certificate, a written guarantee, full health testing documentation on both parents, and a detailed care packet.

The Ideal Family
- Has researched the Great Dane breed thoroughly and understands the commitment involved
- Has adequate space — a yard is strongly preferred for a breed of this size
- Is prepared for the financial responsibility of a giant breed, including veterinary care
- Is committed to training, socialization, and providing structure from day one
- Understands that Great Danes are companion dogs — not outdoor or kennel dogs
- Is open to ongoing communication with us throughout the dog's life

Common Questions
How much do your puppies cost?
Pricing varies by litter and is provided during the application process. We do not publish pricing publicly. Our puppies are priced to reflect the investment in health testing, quality care, and lifetime support — not to compete with volume breeders.
Do you ship puppies?
We do not ship puppies as cargo. We may consider ground transport or nanny flights for exceptional families outside the Pacific Northwest, evaluated case by case. We prefer families who can visit in person.
Can I choose my puppy's color?
Color preferences are noted but cannot be guaranteed. We produce harlequin, black, blue, fawn, brindle, merle, and tan point Great Danes depending on the pairing. We match puppies to families based on temperament first — color is secondary.
How long is the wait list?
Wait times vary. We produce one to two litters per year. Families who are flexible on color and sex typically wait less time. We will give you an honest estimate when you apply.
Do you require spay/neuter?
We require a spay/neuter agreement for pet-placement puppies, with timing guided by current veterinary recommendations for giant breeds — typically after 18–24 months. We discuss this in detail during the application process.
